Adventist Youth Ministry is a specialized ministry of the church that (1) seeks to address the particular needs of young people in their own environment and respond to them as they are, and (2) to incorporate them into the fellowship of the church—a caring Christian community. This whole model of youth ministry is given expression through individuals who, in their lives, reflect the life and ministry of the incarnate Christ. Just as He humbled Himself and left the glories of heaven to identify with sinful humanity, so in simple humility, youth ministry seeks to come to young people where they are and offer to them a sense of love, acceptance, and belonging. This experience enables a young person to begin to affirm his or her own value and worth as an individual—as a son or a daughter of God. ~ Youth Ministry Handbook, p xiv
We are young people.
Our members range from adolescents to young adults but we welcome those who are younger and young at heart.
We are seekers of truth.
We meet every week to get a deeper understanding of who God (the Father, Son (Jesus), and Holy Spirit) is so we can have a relationship with Him and serve Him with every aspect of our lives. The more we learn the more we tell the world about Him – His amazing love, His redemptive power, and His soon-coming.
We are fun.
It is important to us that we have temperate and balanced lives, so we make time to fellowship with each other at different fun activities and events within our church, our community, and around the world.
We are committed to God and our faith. We are the youth of Ottawa East Seventh-day Adventist Church.
The Advent message to all the world in my generation
The love of Christ constrains me.
Loving the Lord Jesus, I promise to take an active part in the youth ministry of the church,
doing what I can to help others and to finish the work of the Gospel in all the world.
